Orb Weaving

 Identification and Control

Proper identification is an important first step in controlling ants.

Araneidae; Tetragnthidae

How to Identify an

Orb Weaving

Orb weavers are small to large spiders. Generally they have a large, bulbs abdomen and make classic orb-shaped webs.

Where do they come from?

Orb weaving spiders are often found around buildings and homes in late summer and early fall, especially around overhanging structures such as porches or entryways, or in ornamental plants.

These spiders die out every year and leave an egg sac behind which hatch in the spring and spiderlings disperse. Orb weavers are common near exterior lighting.
